Periodontal Surgery

Thorough Periodontal Surgery

Periodontal surgery is a dental procedure that can help treat various gum diseases. Our periodontists are highly trained and experienced in performing this surgery to help our patients achieve optimal oral health.

During surgery, our doctors use advanced techniques and tools to remove infected tissue, bacteria, and calculus from the gum pockets around the teeth. Once the infected tissue is removed, the periodontist will then reshape and contour the gums to help reduce the depth of the pockets and improve the overall health of the gum tissue.

We offer several types of periodontal surgeries, including flap surgery, pocket reduction surgery, bone grafts, and soft tissue grafts. These procedures are customized to meet the unique needs and goals of each patient, and our periodontists will work closely with you to determine the best course of treatment for your individual case.

Flap surgery involves creating a small incision in the gum tissue to access the affected area. The gum tissue is then lifted back, and the root of the tooth is cleaned and treated before the gum tissue is repositioned and sutured back into place.

Pocket reduction surgery, also known as gingivectomy or gingivoplasty, involves the removal of excess gum tissue to reduce the size of the pockets between the gums and teeth. This procedure helps prevent further infection and promotes the growth of healthy gum tissue.

Bone grafts and soft tissue grafts are used to repair damaged bone and gum tissue, respectively. Bone grafts involve placing donated human or synthetic bone around the tooth to stimulate new bone growth. Soft tissue grafts involve the placement of donated human tissue or your own healthy gum tissue from other areas of the mouth to restore areas where gum tissue has been lost. Please ask your periodontist about using donated human tissue to provide an easier recovery and predictable result.

At our practice, we are committed to providing a comfortable and stress-free experience for all of our patients. Our team of periodontists is dedicated to helping our patients achieve and maintain healthy gums, and we strive to make each visit as pleasant and informative as possible.
